Ve’ahavta’s Pharmaceutical Drive Partnership
Ve’ahavta is deeply honored and proud to have joined Walter Arbib, a Toronto-based Jewish philanthropist, in the securing, shipping, and distributing of pharmaceuticals in Indonesia following a recent earthquake.
Walter has graciously and generously asked Ve’ahavta to partake in his efforts to assist peoples all around the world with pharmaceuticals for children and adults.
This shipment landed in Indonesia with Ve’ahavta’s logo on the boxes, as well as that of the UJA/Jewish Federation of Greater Toronto and The State of Israel. This is a historic humanitarian gesture which will help thousands of people who are suffering as a result of this natural disaster.
The earthquake is the worst to hist West Sumatra in the last 40 years and has caused 1,117 deaths. Thousands have been injured, and it destroyed thousands of houses, office buildings, places of worship, schools, and other public facilities. It is estimated that the losses due to this disaster reached 2.1 trillion rupiah (Indonesian currency).
The humanitarian aid was sent directly from Israel using a commercial flight following the 7.9R earthquake on September 30th.
