Kinder Kits Project
Israel, South Africa, Kenya, and Uganda
Seeking: Volunteers aged 18+ with cross-cultural experience and/or a vested personal interest in the country of origin. Volunteers must be team players, able to work under supervision, have flexibility to depart within 2 weeks of the tentative departure date, have preparedness and resilience of character to handle the pressures of working in a different culture with a foreign set of cultural/professional codes of conduct.
Program Period: Two-week placements
Time Commitment: Two weeks
Tentative Session Dates: Summer, 2011
Program Cost: $3000 CAD (Tax Deductable). Cost includes flight, accommodations, 2 meals/day (breakfast & dinner), local transport, and training/orientation.
Program Purpose: Spend two weeks in Israel, South Africa, Kenya or Uganda assisting with the distribution of Ve’ahavta’s Kinder Kits and providing volunteer support to our partner organization in the host country. Volunteers will be accommodated in local homestays.
Program Description
The Kinder Kits program aims to provide educational supplies to underprivileged children. Without the proper tools to learn, a child’s success is dramatically decreased. 150,000,000 children around the world leave school illiterate and 1 in 6 children live in poverty in Canada. Ve’ahavta has committed to providing Kinder Education Kits containing the necessary supplies for a child’s academic year to impoverished communities around the world through our local and international partners. Ve’ahavta has up to 5 subsidized volunteer spots, including 1 site coordinator, available to assist our partner organization on the ground 5 days a week.

- Previous volunteer experience with Ve’ahavta an asset (though not a requirement)
- Experience working within host country an asset (though not a requirement)
Ve’ahavta will provide logistical support, pre-departure training, assistance with travel, full orientation and supervision in the field.
All applicants must complete a volunteer application form, which includes a CV, two letters of reference, a personal statement, and a deposit fee of $500 (fee is non refundable upon your acceptance).
